Noterdaeme studied at the episcopal college in Veurne. He graduated as a doctor of law at the Catholic University in Leuven. He moved to Bruges and lived in a house at the Langerei. He became an office worker and later director at the provincial government of West-Flanders. He published books about law, prose and poetry including many occasional poems that were often set to music. He also published articles in Gezelle's magazine Biekorf (Beehive). He was a very active member of the Davidsfonds, both locally and supralocally. In 1924 he was a cofounder of the association for the foundation of the Gezellemuseum.
