Cordelia was the daughter of the music teacher Jean Louis Van De Wiele (1795-1866) and Virginie Eyskens (1797-1861) living in Kapittelstraat in Kortrijk. She was an insurance agent for the Antwerp “Securitas” company. She lived in the Begijnhofstraat in Kortrijk for years and was Gezelle’s secretary for a quarter of a century (1874-1899). She accomplished an immense amount of work for Gezelle’s Woordentas. She assisted him with his correspondence and was also personally involved in the publication of the Duikalmanak (Daily Almanac) (1886-1897).
