Victor Beheydt was the son of Ivo Beheyt, harness maker, and Carolina Gorrain. He studied pedagogy in Leuven in September 1875. He was ordained priest on June 10th, 1875. On September 16th, 1877 he was appointed teacher at the Saint Louis college in Bruges. He was subsequently principal of the college in Nieuwpoort (11.06.1886) and Tielt (16.09.1893). Next he worked as parish priest in Rollegem-Kapelle (11.08.1897), Ingelmunster (10.10.1900) and pastored the Our Lady’s parish in Kortrijk (26.03.1908).
