Edèse Goormachtigh

Edezius Goormachtigh, son of Eugène Goormachtigh, municipal secretary, and Natalie Dieryck, was the brother of the musicologst Louis Goormachtigh. He studied at the minor seminar in Roeselare (1857-1862), and was ordained priest in 1867. On September 28th,1863 he entered the Dominicans. From 1871 he worked as a missionary in Mosoel (Iraq), nowadays Al Mawsil.
