Cyriel Delaere, son of Amatus Delaere, farmer, and Nathalia Lecluyse, was ordained priest in Bruges by bishop Faict on June 4th, 1887. On December 10th, 1887 he became a teacher at the College of Saint Louis in Bruges, and from 1893 he also was invigilator there. He was chief editor of Gezelle's magazine Biekorf (Beehive) from 1893 till 1907. He became curate in Nieuwpoort (23.11.1889) and parish priest in Leffinge (22.03.1912).
