Alfons Dassonville was the son of Ludovicus Dassonville and Sophie Roelant. He was ordained priest in Bruges on December 19th, 1884. Next he was a teacher at the college in Oostende (10.09.1885), at the Saint Louis college in Bruges (15.09.1886), at the college in Poperinge (10.09.1887) and at the college in Kortrijk (20.09.1896). He became rector of San Andres de los Flamencos in Madrid in 1900. He returned to Kortrijk as principal of the black sisters, and chaplain of the Our Lady’s Hospital (1907). In 1912 he became parish priest in Ypres, pastoring the Saint Jacob’s church, and later on in Roesbrugge (1920). In 1924 he was again appointed chaplain at the Our Lady’s Hospital in Kortrijk. He died there suddenly on January 18th, 1936.
