Flower Carpets

In 1999, the centennial of Guido Gezelle's death monumental flower carpets could be admired in Bruges. On the Burg square thousands of begonias formed Gezelle’s face and one of his verses. The Market square was one colourful, green plane of rural charm. The inner court behind the Belfry Tower showed a huge flower carpet representing one of Roger Raveel’s swans. Roger Raveel was a famous Belgian painter.
