Artist Jan Fabre’s sculpture The man giving a light can be seen in the garden of the Guido Gezelle museum. This work of art can be interpreted as the artist passing on the light of poetry to others, as Guido Gezelle used to do with his poetical works.

Boerke Naas (Farmer Nick), the well-known character from Guido Gezelle’s poem, once performed in the Brugean Puppet Theater. It is a genuine Beeusaert papier-mâché hand puppet owned by the youth writer Brigitte Minne. She owns a hand puppet collection once belonging to her father Jacko, who ran a puppet theater along the Damme Canal. Jacko was given the puppets by his godfather Germain Seys. Brigitte Minne now has her own puppet theater in the Moerstraat in Bruges.
